Creative Writing

The Creative Writing category celebrates the written word in all its forms. From poetry to prose, short stories to essays, this category welcomes writers of all ages and experience levels. Participants will have their work evaluated by published authors and experienced writing educators who will assess creativity, technical skill, narrative structure, and literary merit.

Important Notes

  • Candidates may enter more than once in the same section
  • Items may in entered in English, Afrikaans, German, French, Xhosa
  • If the work is disqualified, no entry fee will be reimbursed.
  • A work previously entered may not be submitted again in another year

Requirements

  • All works must be original and certified by a teacher or parent if the applicant is under 18 years old
  • No AI generated works will be permitted and will be disqualifed if detected.
  • No offensive material or profanities may be used
  • All entries must be clearly written or typed
  • Entries must be sent with proof of payment

Submission Process

  1. Read the syllabi for your chosen category
  2. Complete the appropriate entry form
  3. Pay the required entry fee by EFT
  4. Email the convenor your entry form and proof of payment
  5. The convenor will communicate how to submit your work
  6. We will notify you via email when your results are ready
